In this 6 week course of Pilates we begin with the basics and gradually progress as the weeks go on. I will teach you proper breathing techniques and pelvic floor exercises. You will learn how to relax and contract the pelvic floor muscles, while also gaining awareness of your core and activating muscles in the rest of the body which will lead to a better post natal recovery.

Most of the sessions will be done working against your own resistance – but there will be some sessions where we use the ‘birthing ball’ and the help of a resistance band.

In addition to the Pilates sessions you will have access to expert interviews with women’s health professionals; Lorraine (Midwife) and Rachael (Doula). There will be useful tutorial video’s on topics such as “How to do a Pelvic Tilt” and why it is so important to be able to do this movement, I will bring you through stretching routines and more which will improve your strength and flexibility which is so important during pregnancy.

Once you have signed up to “Pregnancy & Beyond” you will be invited to a Private Facebook group especially for Mums. I will do live videos and tutorials for the group and will be guided by you as to what information and topics you want me to cover as your pregnancy develops.

But most importantly this page will be a space to support each other and share your experiences with other Mums. I have learned so much about what to expect and picked up great tips from other Mums, not to mention gained reassurance when I needed it.

Its time to slow down, take time for yourself, and to recover from growing and birthing your baby. But don’t be tempted to rush the process, it’s so important that you slow down and go at a pace that suits you. This course will be delivered to you in stages, to avoid overwhelm and to ensure you get a good foundation before progressing to more strenuous workouts.

The exercises in each routine are focused on regenerating weakened muscles and getting them to work together again. You will learn to support your body through your core and improve your posture, which is especially important when lifting and caring for your newborn.

Routines will target areas such as the neck, shoulders and back which often become tight and sore when caring for baby. Most of the sessions will be done working against your own resistance – but some sessions will require the help of a resistance band.

I chat with Nutritionist – Gail O’Mahony and ask her what foods we should include in our diet. There is a specially recorded meditation video for new Mums to chill to and lots of extra tutorials to follow, not to mention fun workouts you can do with your baby.

You will have access to a Private Facebook group just for Mums, where you can share your experiences and challenges and get answers to those questions you can’t get anywhere else. In my experience of being a Mum and teaching Pilates, I found that there was no programme out there which helped Mums to adapt to the demands of small children. As our kids grow and explore, we need to be able to keep up with them and adapt how we move our bodies. Strong Moma’s will help you do just that, through a series of 5 movement classes incorporating Pilates, Flexibility and core strength exercises.

It can be hard to find the time to exercise, and even harder to get time away from home – but don’t worry these routines can be done at home, at a time that suits you. You won’t need any special equipment (just a little floor space) as you will be working against your own resistance. Workouts will get gradually tougher as you progress through the programme so it is important you don’t skip a week.

I chat with Womens Health Physio – Muireann Lohan about common complaints Mums struggle with, such as painful intercourse and abdominal separation and how we can combat them.

You will have the support of other Mums in a private Facebook group where you can ask questions, pick up tips and get reassurance from women who understand your challenges.
