INJURY
THERAPY

 Injury Therapy

At Laura’s Pilates & Injury Therapy we assess your injury first, through a questionnaire and discussion to better understand your complaint. We follow this up with postural screening and a movement examination. Movement examination helps us view how the body, muscles and joints react during active, passive and resisted movement. Further tests may be completed and a suitable method/form of treatment will be decided upon with the client.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage or Deep Tissue Massage (DTM) is a great way to help loosen out any tight and tired muscles and help rejuvenate them. DTM gets into those deeper layers of muscles and helps iron out those tight areas. Deep pressure is also used in Sports Massage but with a faster stroke.

Vacuum Cupping Therapy

This is another form of deep tissue treatment and will favour anyone who is not keen of dry needling. Cupping Therapy helps increase blood flow to those deep tight muscles in the body as it lifts up the skin and superficial muscles into the cup. Specific training has been completed to practice Vacuum Cupping in Laura’s Pilates & Injury Clinic.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling involves the insertion of a sterile needle (only used once) into a trigger point or knot in the muscle. This trigger point causes pain in a muscle and can refer pain to different areas in the body. Several research has proven a relief of pain in these points as a result of dry needling. Specific training has been completed to practice Dry Needling in Laura’s Pilates & Injury Therapy.
